Twelve free perception tests: reaction time, color memory, time perception, visual memory and more. Practice any one on its own, at rising difficulty.

## Key facts
- Daily: 10 tests drawn from 12, the same for everyone on the same date; a new set at midnight local time; they get harder from first to last.
- Scoring: each test scores 0 to 100 by how close the answer is, falling off smoothly with the size of the miss; 10 tests make a total out of 1000.
- Titles: Sharp-Eyed 900+, Keen 800+, Steady 650+, Wobbly 500+, Fooled under 500.
- Reaction test: any reaction up to 200 ms scores 100; tapping before the change, or within 100 ms of it, is a false start.
- Ranking: a finished daily is scored again on the server and compared with everyone who played that puzzle; players see the share they beat, overall and per test.

## All twelve perception tests

These are the twelve perception tests behind Perceptle. Each one measures a different part of how you see and sense: timing, color, memory, shape, motion and speed of reaction. Pick one to practice it on its own; every round is a little harder than the last.

- [**Time Perception Test** Hold the circle for exactly the time shown. No timer to watch.](https://perceptle.org/tests/time-perception)
- [**Color Memory Test** A color appears for a moment. Find it again on the color field.](https://perceptle.org/tests/color-memory)
- [**Visual Memory Test** Colored dots flash once. Then point to where one of them was.](https://perceptle.org/tests/visual-memory)
- [**Balance Point Test** Tap the spot where this shape would balance on a pin.](https://perceptle.org/tests/balance-point)
- [**Average Estimation Test** Bars flash once. Set the line to their average.](https://perceptle.org/tests/average-estimation)
- [**Line Length Illusion Test** Stretch one line until both lines are the same length.](https://perceptle.org/tests/line-length-illusion)
- [**Speed Perception Test** Watch the first dot cross once, then set the second dot to the same speed.](https://perceptle.org/tests/speed-perception)
- [**Symmetry Test** Tap where the dot would land if mirrored across the line.](https://perceptle.org/tests/symmetry)
- [**Area Estimation Test** Resize the shape until it covers the same area as the circle.](https://perceptle.org/tests/area-estimation)
- [**Circle Center Test** Only part of a circle is shown. Tap its center.](https://perceptle.org/tests/circle-center)
- [**Shade Matching Test** Find where a single shade sits along the gradient.](https://perceptle.org/tests/shade-matching)
- [**Reaction Time Test** Wait for the panel to change color, then tap as fast as you can.](https://perceptle.org/tests/reaction-time)

## Which perception test to start with

New to perception tests? Start with [the reaction time test](https://perceptle.org/tests/reaction-time) or [the time perception test](https://perceptle.org/tests/time-perception): one tap or one hold, and you instantly see how you did. Then try a memory test, like [color memory](https://perceptle.org/tests/color-memory) or [visual memory](https://perceptle.org/tests/visual-memory), where something flashes and you rebuild it from memory.

The judgment tests reward a careful eye more than speed: [symmetry](https://perceptle.org/tests/symmetry), [balance point](https://perceptle.org/tests/balance-point), [area estimation](https://perceptle.org/tests/area-estimation) and [circle center](https://perceptle.org/tests/circle-center). And the optical illusion test is the one most people get wrong at first, because the illusion keeps working even when you know it is there.

## How the perception tests are scored

Every test is scored out of 100 by how close you came, falling away smoothly as the miss grows, so each round tells you exactly how sharp you were. The same tests make up [the daily Perceptle](https://perceptle.org/), ten a day, and [Unlimited](https://perceptle.org/unlimited) mixes them into endless rounds.

Each of these perception tests is based on a classic task from perception research. They are for fun and practice, not a medical or psychological assessment.
